Objective
This training module is a cursory overview of iMed’s Signature Control. This document
outlines the variations in configuration and hardware that are available.
iMed Signature Control
Signature Control is an ActiveX control that iMed uses to sign a consent.
Signature Control is an aspect of iMed that is installed with the software and there are
different versions of Signature Control that are compatible with the different versions of
iMed.
Installation
Citrix – If a client is using Citrix, signature control needs to be installed directly on the
Citrix server
Other – All other environments require that signature control be installed on each
individual workstation
Configuration
Signature Control Version – Check web.config after each patch update to ensure the
corresponding version of signature control is installed.
Missing Signature Control – Check web.config, if this is set to TRUE, the user will see a
pop up letting them know they cannot sign
Signature Devices
Signature Pads – All signature pads have corresponding drivers that need to be
installed. The installation and updating of drivers is managed by the client.
iPads – iMed uses the draw function on an iPad to allow for signatures.
Note: This is true for all devices, if iMed doesn’t detect a signature pad it will revert
to the draw function
Signature Canvas Test – Application that allows troubleshooting and testing to
determine what device type is detected.
Note: ePad may still stay “draw”
