Objective
This document is a brief overview of what Internet Information Services is and what it
controls within iMed. Additional information related to configuring IIS can be found
within the Migration Checklist.
Internet Information Services
Internet Information Services (IIS) is the web server role within the Windows Server
Operating System (OS). The iMed consent site is run by IIS.
Internet Information Services (IIS) Manager
The administrative tool within the Windows Server OS that is used to setup and configure
IIS for iMed.
Application Pools
Application Pools is responsible for running all applications. The pools provide the
ability to isolate different applications on the same server. By isolating applications to
different pools, the tool allows you to dictate different security protocols for each
ApplicationPoolIdentity.
Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) Certificates
SSL is a standard technology used to secure an internet connection and protect
sensitive data, such as patient information,
when it is being communicated between
two systems.
Sites with an SSL Certificate will navigate to
https:// rather than http://.The client is responsible for securing a SSL Certificate.
